What's Happening in 3T
We added 30 Painted Lady caterpillars to our classroom last week! We will be observing and documenting their growth and metamorphosis into butterflies as part of our last science unit on Animal Lifecycles. Please send in your empty shoeboxes to serve as homes for your child's adult butterfly.
Swimming lessons begin on Friday, May 11!
We will attend for 5 Fridays (to June 8).
Don't forget to bring your swimsuit and towel on Fridays!
We will have an early lunch and get on the bus at 12:10 p.m.
We return to school at about 2:10 p.m.
We will be walking back so please remember to dress for the weather. Also, please pack an extra snack as we will be hungry after swimming!
Keenooshayo Silent Market on Thursday
What is the Silent Market?
This event is hosted by the grade 6's and is a project that supports the ideals that we all hold dear as a UNESCO school, and is also further inspired by having taken part in WE Day.
Why do we have a Silent Market?
This is a truly powerful experience for all of the children. The grade 6's have already explained to the class that the entire activity is conducted with absolutely no talking. The reason for this is that they are demonstrating that there are many children in the world who go hungry, or die from hunger, every minute of every day, and that these children, unfortunately, have no voice. We are silent to show we understand their plight, and we are purchasing small crafts and baked goods from the grade 6's to raise funds to help provide food for hungry children.
Most items will cost between 50 cents and $2.00. If you could please send some spare change with your child, that would be greatly appreciated. The maximum amount suggested is $5.00, but $2.00-$3.00 is more than enough.
